About Golden Valley

Golden Valley Brewery & Restaurant is a locally owned and operated restaurant & brewery that offers a unique atmosphere not found elsewhere in Yamhill County.  Our building, which was originally a warehouse in the 1920’s, houses a full-scale brewery along with the restaurant & pub.  A distinctive feature of the pub is the antique bar, which is frequently recognized by visitors who remember when it hosted patrons at the Grand Old Hoyt Hotel in Portland.  Dating to the 1920’s, it is made of solid Mahogany with stained glass porticos and stands fourteen feet high and twenty-seven feet long.  From the bar you can watch the brewery in action as the brewers create our famous lagers & ales.  Located in McMinnville’s historic downtown district, Golden Valley has become well known for our outstanding beers, premium wines, comfortable environment and delicious food.  Our private banquet room is ideal for almost any event.  Measuring 900 square feet, it will accommodate up to 80 guests.

Angus Springs Ranch:  Golden Valley owners Peter & Celia Kircher also own and operate a ranch just outside of McMinnville where they raise Angus Springs Ranch cattle on 76 acres of rolling, spring fed pastures.  Spent grain from Golden Valley’s Brewery provides an ideal feed which is high in fiber and offers nearly twice the protein of conventional feeds.  No hormones, antibiotic feeds or animal by-products are used in the production of our beef.  The steers are finished for more than six months on a premium program, much longer than feedlot finishing, which ensures beef of exceptional quality and tenderness.  Due to limited availability of Angus Springs Ranch beef, we do occasionally substitute Misty Isle all natural beef.

Our Food:  Chef Greg Meixner has extensive experience in creating and preparing banquets at fine hotels and restaurants in Oregon and California.  Golden Valley’s Banquet menu offers a large variety of choices featuring house-made items using fresh, local seasonal ingredients.  Some of Golden Valley’s specialties include our creative salad entrées, steaks, fresh seafood entrées, Tuscan Chicken, custom-made sausages, slow-roasted prime rib and our signature buffets and desserts.

Our Beer and Wines:  Our beers are hand-crafted by our Head Brewmaster.  Our selection of premium ingredients produces beverages of unsurpassed quality and taste.  Red Thistle Ale, a Celtic style red, has become the brewery’s flagship beer and is now available in bottles in Portland and other Oregon markets along with our American Pale Ale, Geist Bock and Tannenbomb.  Our wine list offers many local wines, including Golden Valley Pinot Noir.

Parking:  There is parking available for banquet guests across the street on the corner of Third and Johnson St.  The entrance for this parking lot is on Third Street.

Fees and Charges

Deposit: A $100.00 deposit is required to hold the Banquet Room for you.  Your deposit will be applied toward your bill.  Your deposit will be refunded only if cancellation notice is received at least fourteen days before your event.  Changes or cancellation notification must be received in writing and confirmed by our events coordinator.  During peak banquet dates, the deposit required will be $250.00, non-refundable.  A credit card number may be required to ensure payment of final bill.

Room Fees:  A $100.00 room rental fee will be charged for the use of the Banquet room for up to half a day.  The Banquet room fee will be waived for parties exceeding $600.00 in food and beverage purchases, not including no-host bar sales.  This fee offsets our cost of the set-up and breakdown of the room and linen costs.  Weddings may require additional fees for setup and breakdown.  During peak banquet dates, this fee will be waived for parties exceeding $1500.00 in food and beverage purchases.

Pilsner Room:  The Pilsner Room provides an additional option for private seating.  This space will accommodate up to 50 people.  There is a non-refundable room charge of $150.00 for reserving this room as a private space.  The Events Coordinator will be able to assist you with checking availability and making arrangements for your function.

Buffet:   Buffet style is more relaxed and provides for some variation in guest attendance and fewer time restrictions.  A minimum of 20 guests is required for a buffet.

In order for us to properly prepare for your event we require a final guest count 7 days prior to your function and entrée selections 14 days prior to your function.  This information will be the minimum amount used for billing purposes.  Your final guest count or actual attendance, whichever is larger, is what you will be charged for on your final bill.  No separate checks will be allowed for any functions in our banquet room.

Room Set-Up

Table Set-up:  Please let us know how you would like the tables arranged, i.e., will there be a speaker, registration table, head table, etc.  We can also arrange for a projection screen, etc. for a reasonable fee.  (See page 16 for pricing.)
